Diary: The Alert That Fired on Tuesday
A workflow diary: Prenetics hit Trend Watch on Monday, a Hot Prospects alert fired on Tuesday at $22.97, and the week ended 16.6% higher. The full trail.
A workflow diary entry about the part of the platform I personally would keep if everything else disappeared: alerts. Because the honest truth about screeners is that nobody reads them every day, and the whole point of automation is that you should not have to.
Monday: the setup
On Monday, August 24, Prenetics (PRE) appeared on the Trend Watch list at $20.20. The row was unusually emphatic: overall reading 88% Buy, medium-term 100% Buy. I did not buy anything and I did not stare at the chart. I did the lazy thing the platform is built for: added PRE to my watchlist, where my standing stock alert covers it. The alert is configured on the Hot Prospects screener, checks every 5 minutes inside a fixed afternoon window, and only ever notifies on newly matching tickers, so it stays silent until something actually changes.
Tuesday: one email
Tuesday afternoon the email arrived: PRE had entered Hot Prospects, at $22.97. That is the mechanism working exactly as designed: the trend list saw the name first, the momentum list confirmed it a day later, and the alert carried the confirmation to me without my involvement. One email, one name, because deduplication means an alert never repeats what it already told you.
With the email open I spent my usual five minutes: chart, then the AI chat, asking what the volume had done over the past week and whether any news explained the acceleration. Then back to my actual day.
The rest of the week, one row per session
| Date | Event | Price | Change vs alert |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mon Aug 24 | On Trend Watch (88% Buy) | $20.20 | -12.1% before the alert |
| Tue Aug 25 | Alert: entered Hot Prospects | $22.97 | 0.0% |
| Wed Aug 26 | Still listed | $23.25 | +1.2% |
| Thu Aug 27 | Still listed | $25.78 | +12.2% |
| Fri Aug 28 | Fourth consecutive session on the list | $26.25 | +14.3% |
| Mon Aug 31 | Where it stands as this entry is written | $26.35 | +16.6% |
Measured from the Monday Trend Watch listing instead of the Tuesday alert, the same week is +30.4%. That gap between the two entry points is worth noticing: the earlier, less confirmed signal was more profitable and more uncertain; the later, double-confirmed one was cheaper in nerves and still delivered 16.6% in four trading days. There is no right answer in that trade-off, but the platform gives you both timestamps so you can decide which discomfort you prefer.
The honest footnote
Selected after the fact, as always in this series: most alert emails lead to a shrug, not to a week like this one, and a stock that rises four sessions in a row can fall four in a row just as easily. What repeats is the shape of the workflow: the lists watch 8,400 symbols, the alert watches the lists, and I read exactly one email. Attention is the scarce resource; this spends almost none of it.
