Diary: A Monday List and Abercrombie

A workflow diary: how the August 24 Hot Prospects list surfaced Abercrombie & Fitch at $109, what the AI chat added, and where the stock stood a week later.

This is the first entry in a small series we are trying out: workflow diaries. Not methodology explainers, just an honest record of how we actually use the platform on a given day, with the real numbers that followed. Today: Monday, August 24, and what became of it.

Monday morning, 415 names, one keeper

The Hot Prospects list that Monday held 415 names, which is far too many to read. My routine is always the same: filter mentally for names I recognize, then flip through the charts one at a time in the Chart Flip Book until something looks like a structure rather than noise. About thirty charts in, Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF) stopped me.

The screener row said: $109.01, one-month gain +18.4%, weighted alpha +6.87, 20-day relative strength 58, and daily volume of 1,005,400 almost exactly on its 20-day average of 1,003,980. So: a stock up strongly over a month, still trading on normal participation. No frenzy in it yet.

The cross-check that took two clicks

Same Monday, ANF was also sitting on the Trend Watch list with an overall reading of 88% Buy and short-term and medium-term readings of 100% Buy each. Two lists with unrelated methodologies, one momentum-based and one built on our proprietary trend indicator, agreeing on the same retailer. That overlap is what moved ANF from "interesting chart" to "watchlist" for me.

Then the AI chat next to the chart. I asked it three things: what the recent volume pattern looked like versus the prior month, whether there were upcoming scheduled events for the name, and what the latest news said. The value here is not that the chat knows something secret; it is that the answers arrive next to the chart with sources attached, instead of me opening six tabs. Five minutes, full picture, decision made: this one stays on the list.

What the week did

DateEventPriceChange vs Aug 24
Mon Aug 24On Hot Prospects and Trend Watch$109.010.0%
Thu Aug 27Midweek repricing, re-listed on Hot Prospects$147.75+35.5%
Tue Sep 1Where it stands as this entry is written$140.70+29.1%

The midweek session did most of the work: a violent single-session repricing from the $111 area to nearly $148. Since then the stock has given back about five percent from that peak, which is normal digestion after a move that size, and it re-qualified for Hot Prospects on August 27 and again on August 31. A week after the Monday list, ANF stands 29.1% above where the screener first showed it to me.

The honest footnote

Two things belong in this diary for it to be worth anything. First, we picked this entry because it worked; the same 415-name Monday list contained plenty of names that did nothing, and one week is one week. Second, nothing in the workflow predicted the midweek move. What the workflow did was cheaper and more repeatable: it put a strong, quietly accumulating chart in front of me before the loud part happened, and the chat compressed the research from an hour to five minutes. That is the part that repeats.
